Quick answer

Yes. Zoro has Conqueror's Haki. Scopper Gaban states it outright in chapter 1152, and the story had already shown it on Zoro's blades earlier, in the fight with King (chapter 1033).

What he does not have yet is control. Gaban tells him he has to learn to use it consciously. As of chapter 1194, he still can't: his opponent identifies one of his attacks as carrying Conqueror's Haki, and afterwards Zoro cannot reproduce it.

Current through chapter 1194. Chapters 1193 and 1194 are PRIMARY — MANGA VERIFIED, read directly from the official Japanese release on Shonen Jump+. Earlier chapters are CHAPTER-REFERENCED: recorded from chapter summaries that agree with each other, not re-read on the page for this article. English wording is our paraphrase of the Japanese.

When did Zoro first show Conqueror's Haki?

The first time the story names it in connection with Zoro is chapter 1010 — a chapter titled 「覇王色」, Conqueror's Haki.

  • What happens: Zoro's attack wounds Kaido, and Kaido reacts by asking whether Zoro has it too.
  • Zoro's answer: he has no recollection of any such thing.

(CHAPTER-REFERENCED.)

Two things are worth keeping apart here:

  • That was the first naming, not the first proof. Kaido's line is a question, asked by an opponent.
  • The first clear use came in the King fight. In chapter 1033 Zoro's three swords are shown coated in Conqueror's Haki, and in chapter 1035 he defeats King. (CHAPTER-REFERENCED.)

Anime episodes are not covered here. This page tracks the manga only. Anime scenes that look like Haki, before or after these chapters, are not evidence of what the manga has established.

Is it really Zoro's — or Enma's?

Some fans argue that what showed up in the King fight was Haki pulled through Enma, the sword that drains its wielder's Haki. Some even suggest it was Oden's.

Chapter 1152 settles who has it.

  • Gaban states that Zoro has Conqueror's Haki.
  • Luffy adds that he has been sensing it off Zoro all along.
  • Zoro himself did not know.

(CHAPTER-REFERENCED.)

Whatever role the sword plays, the story now attributes the Haki to Zoro.

Can Zoro use it at will?

No — not as of chapter 1194. This is the open part of the question, and the most recent chapters are about exactly this.

Chapter 1152. Gaban tells Zoro he has to learn to control it consciously. (CHAPTER-REFERENCED.)

Chapter 1193. (PRIMARY.) Loki gives Zoro a specific condition for Sommers: the steel heart has to be pierced by a blade coated in Conqueror's Haki. Zoro breaks out of Sommers' thorn cage and lands a strike through his torso. Sommers survives, and Zoro says he is still practicing. Full sequence: chapter 1193 report.

Chapter 1194. (PRIMARY.)

  • Sommers' read. He says the 1193 strike reached his heart without the coating.
  • The one identified attack. Zoro's 千八十煩悩鳳 is the one attack Sommers identifies as coated. It hits a ship, not Sommers.
  • It won't come back. Zoro rejects hit after hit as not it and says 「戻らねェ!!」 — it won't come back.
  • The last page. Zoro takes a three-sword stance with black lightning-like effects drawn around it, and Sommers is terrified. No strike is shown, and nothing names the effect.

The layers of that chapter — Sommers' read, Zoro's own words, Mihawk's lesson — are separated in why can't Zoro repeat Conqueror's Haki?.

Did Zoro think it was only for captains?

Yes, in his own words. (PRIMARY, 1194.)

  • His assumption: in the middle of the Sommers fight, he thinks he had believed this power only lodged in someone who captains a crew.
  • Sommers' challenge: whether Zoro can support a Yonko's captain like this. Zoro concedes it is a fair point.

In the same chapter, Mihawk's flashback lesson answers the question differently. Conqueror's Haki is not gained by training; it is the unchanging thing kings carry, and it is 「"己"」 — oneself. What he says, exactly, is in our Mihawk piece.

What the chapters have not shown

  • Conscious, repeatable use. One attack identified as coated in 1194; afterwards Zoro cannot reproduce it on demand.
  • A Conqueror's-coated strike landing on Sommers. The identified one hit a ship. The last page shows a stance, not a strike.
  • Sommers' steel heart destroyed, or Sommers dying.
  • That his left eye has anything to do with it. The eye is drawn closed throughout 1193 and 1194 — see did Zoro open his left eye?.
  • A ranking of his Conqueror's Haki against Luffy's, Shanks' or anyone else's. Where his infusion record sits on evidence is in our Haki rankings, still marked unsettled.

What chapter 1195 could settle

ONE PIECE returns in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 46, on sale October 13. This page will be updated with that chapter.

The evidence that would change the answer:

  • whether the effect around the last-page stance is named as Conqueror's Haki;
  • what the strike that follows does to Sommers and his heart;
  • above all, whether Zoro can do it again, on purpose — the first sign of the control Gaban asked for.
