Quick answer: does Sanji get Conqueror's Haki?

Not on the page. Chapter 1196 doesn't show Sanji using Conqueror's Haki, and nobody says he has it.

What it does show:

  • The weakness from 1195, named. In a Kamabakka flashback, Ivankov tells Sanji he treats himself carelessly and never defends. 「愛とは防御力」 — love is defence.
  • The title line. 「死にたがりの愛に価値なんてない」 — a love that wants to die has no value. Ivankov says it about Sanji's willingness to die for the women he loves.
  • The turn. Back in the present, Sanji lights a cigarette and vows Killingham won't land one more hit.
  • The last line. Sanji: 「頭が高ェ!!!! っつってんだよ 馬男!!!」 — I said your head is too high, horse man! The chapter ends there.

The whole chapter is Sanji vs Killingham. Zoro, Brook, Gunko and the Owl's Library don't appear.

PRIMARY — MANGA VERIFIED. Read directly from the official Japanese release: chapter 1196「死にたがりの愛に価値なんてない」in Weekly Shonen Jump 2026 issue 47, published 19 October on Shonen Jump+. English wording is our paraphrase of the Japanese. Spoilers below.

When is ONE PIECE 1197?

Next week is a break. The last page says ONE PIECE is off next issue and returns in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 49, on sale 2 November.

Killingham: "Imagine yourself in five minutes"

The chapter opens with Sanji trying to shut a memory back in: don't come out — I never want to remember those days again.

The fight:

  • The arm. Killingham drives his spear Longinus into Sanji's arm and mocks him — a cook's precious arm.
  • The counter. Sanji hits back hard enough to knock him reeling.
  • The answer. Killingham regenerates and lands a blow of his own.
  • The taunt. You only wear down, and I recover. Imagine yourself in five minutes.

The cruelty. Killingham tells Sanji to go and beg his captain for help, and to confess he couldn't beat a God's Knight without Conqueror's Haki.

What it digs up:

  • Luffy. From Whole Cake Island: come back, Sanji — I can't become King of the Pirates without you.
  • Judge. You have no talent.

Sanji's answer: I can't tell my captain I couldn't do anything.

The nightmare is Ivankov

Killingham uses 〝夢出力〟 — a dream "output" — to pull out the thing Sanji fears most. A caption names it:

サンジの恐いもの — what Sanji fears: Emporio Ivankov, queen of the Kamabakka Kingdom.

Two surprised reactions:

  • Killingham didn't expect it, and calls it Sanji's deep psychology.
  • Sanji asks why it's Iva — not the Germa scum.

His own answer: because you see through my weakness.

The attack. With 〝夢現〟 — dream and reality crossing — the nightmare Ivankov and Killingham attack together, and Ivankov's 「ミュールキック」 sends Sanji flying.

The flashback: Kamabakka

The setup. Sanji wins a match at Kamabakka for a 「バイタルレシピ」 — a vital recipe — but comes out more hurt than the fighter he beat. Ivankov orders him to rest for two weeks.

Ivankov's case against him:

  • The record. Thirty fights, all won, every one leaving him covered in wounds.
  • The waste. He takes hits he could have avoided.
  • The cause. He charges like a boar, lives in a hurry and treats himself carelessly.
  • The warning. 「雨垂れ石を穿つ」 — dripping water wears through stone. Small wounds add up until even a strong body breaks.
  • The diagnosis. How weak his defence is shows how little he values himself.

The lesson.

  • Self-love. Ivankov's people shout what they have that Sanji lacks: 〝自・己・愛〟, self-love.
  • Ivankov's rule. Someone who can't love himself can't love anyone else.
  • Sanji's reply. He gives all his love to ladies, and would die for Nami or Robin.
  • Ivankov's answer. That isn't wrong — but 「死にたがりの愛に価値なんてない!!」. Then: 〝愛とは防御力〟 — love is defence.

The Germa memories flash past:

  • failure;
  • Judge: being your father is a stain;
  • a young Sanji apologising for being born weak.

Ivankov's verdict: your love is covered in wounds. Keep winning recklessly, and a limit will come when you can't save the people you want to save.

Ivankov adds that he has a man he would stake his life to protect. He doesn't name him.

Back on Elbaf: "Not one more hit"

Sanji, down in the rain. His thoughts:

  • The Germa business is settled.
  • His worth was given to him by his crew (Sanji's food is the best!).
  • He has no intention of wallowing in misfortune.
  • Maybe today is the limit day Iva warned him about.

The nightmare vanishes. Killingham is thrown: his "scary thing" disappeared?

Sanji gets up and lights a cigarette:

  • From now on, I won't take one more hit from you.
  • Celestial Dragon or whatever — you're looking down on us from up high, in the country of our benefactors.
  • 「頭が高ェ!!!! っつってんだよ 馬男!!!」

The closing caption: 「〝己〟の進む道は見えた!!」 — he has seen the path "oneself" will take.

What chapter 1196 does not show

  • Conqueror's Haki. No one names it as Sanji's, and nothing on the page is labelled as it.
  • The outcome. The chapter ends on Sanji's line, before another blow.
  • Who Ivankov's "man" is. He isn't named.
  • Any other part of Elbaf. Zoro vs Sommers, Brook and Gunko, and the Owl's Library don't appear.

THEORY — what "head too high" may be setting up

  • The reading. The chapter's last words are a king's rebuke, and its caption uses 〝己〟 — oneself — the word Mihawk used for Conqueror's Haki in 1194.
  • The likely reading. Sanji's turn reads as a lead-in to Conqueror's Haki, reached through self-worth rather than sacrifice.
  • What the page gives. It fits 1195, where Gaban said the aptitude should be there but a self-destructive streak was in the way.
  • What it doesn't. No character draws that line, and the chapter stops before Sanji acts. It stays THEORY until 1197.
