Quick answer

Loki ate the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr (リュウリュウの実 幻獣種 モデル"ニーズホッグ"). It is a Mythical Zoan, named in chapter 1175, 「雷竜(ニーズホッグ)」.

What it does:

  • The form. It turns him into a black dragon that breathes lightning.
  • The size. The dragon scales with the eater. On an Ancient Giant like Loki, it is enormous.

Where it came from: it was Elbaf's national treasure.

  • Why nobody ate it. For years no one could, because Ragnir, the hammer that guards it, accepted no one.
  • How Loki got it. He fought Ragnir, won its acceptance, and was allowed to eat it (chapter 1170, in flashback).

Evidence layers.

  • Chapter 1193 is PRIMARY, read directly on Shonen Jump+.
  • Everything else is CHAPTER-REFERENCED: points that two or more independent post-release reviews agree on (sources at the foot of the page).

The fruit: Nidhoggr, the black thunder-dragon

The name. Nidhoggr is the dragon of Norse myth, which fits Elbaf's Norse look. Japanese sources write it ニーズホッグ. English outlets use both "Nidhoggr" and "Nidhogg".

Timeline:

Chapter What happens
1174 The black dragon is first shown, in a double spread, before it is named.
1175 Yarul explains the fruit and its name. The dragon wipes out a field of MMA with 「雷界(トールヘイム)」 — Thorheim, lightning from its mouth.
1193 Loki is shown in a hybrid form, in silhouette only.

The previous user. Per 1175, the fruit's earlier owner was Elbaf's war god, who went with an ice squirrel, Ratatoskr, and is said to have fought the sun god Nika.

Awakened? We haven't found two reviews that agree it is. One English outlet, as of mid-2026, said it was not yet awakened. We don't claim either.

Ragnir: the hammer with a squirrel's soul

Ragnir (鉄雷) is half of the story of Loki's power. It isn't a fruit Loki ate.

What it is:

  • The hammer. A thunder-charged war hammer. Only Loki can lift it, and it can also take the form of a squirrel (1169–1170).
  • What it really is (1175). The ice squirrel Ratatoskr, who lost his master, the war god, and put his soul into the god's weapon.
  • A fan name. "Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr" is a fan guess. The manga hasn't named any fruit for Ragnir.

Its signature move, 「原初世界(ニブルヘイム)」, Niflheim, freezes a target instantly.

  • First used: chapter 1171.
  • Chapter 1178: after Luffy's attack, Loki uses it to freeze Imu, possessing Gunko's body, solid. Imu later slips out of the ice.
  • Chapter 1187: Ragnir starts the thaw.

How Loki got it — and Harald

The fruit and Harald's death are the same story (chapter 1170, flashback):

  • Harald's fall. Fourteen years ago, Imu took over Loki's father Harald, king of Elbaf, through the God's Knights' covenant.
  • The request. Harald asked Loki to kill him.
  • Ragnir. To have the power to do it, Loki won Ragnir's acceptance and ate the treasure fruit.
  • The killing. Loki ended Harald with Ragnir.

What came after: Loki was blamed for the killing. Later he was captured by Shanks and chained in Elbaf's underworld, and Luffy freed him (around chapter 1171).

Conqueror's Haki. It is widely said that Loki has it, and that it was in that final blow. Reviews disagree on whether chapter 1170 states it outright, so we keep it at that.

In the Elbaf battle

  • The bounty. Loki carries a World Government special bounty of 2.6 billion berries, and the epithet "Cursed Prince".
  • Against Imu:
    • From about 1181, with Luffy and Hajrudin.
    • 1192. Ragnir and Luffy combine for a white-lightning attack.
    • 1193. Imu is slammed into the treasure tree Adam.
  • Sommers' steel heart (1193, PRIMARY). In Zoro's memory of their exchange, Loki points to his own heart. He says piercing Sommers' steel heart only counts with a blade coated in Conqueror's Haki. Full record: Zoro and Sommers' steel heart.
  • Since then. Chapters 1194–1196 follow Zoro and then Sanji. Loki doesn't appear, so where he is and how hurt he is aren't shown.

What the manga hasn't shown

  • Whether the fruit is awakened.
  • The full hybrid form. 1193 shows it only in silhouette.
  • Ragnir's own nature. Whether it counts as a Devil Fruit user, and by what name.
  • Loki's current state after 1193.
