Who has said so:

  • The announcement. Netflix and the official ONE PIECE site announced the month on 5 May 2026.
  • The latest confirmation. On 19 October 2026, the title page of ONE PIECE chapter 1196 in Weekly Shonen Jump repeats it: アニメ『THE ONE PIECE』シーズン1はNetflixにて2027年2月より配信!!

Evidence. The Jump note is PRIMARY — read directly on Shonen Jump+. Everything else is from Netflix's and the official site's own announcements, or press reports that two or more outlets agree on. Where the sources differ, we say so.

What THE ONE PIECE is

A new anime series that remakes ONE PIECE from chapter 1, made by WIT STUDIO.

What it is not:

  • Not the long-running TV anime. That is Toei Animation's series, running since 1999. This is a separate production.
  • Not the live-action Netflix series. Live-action ONE PIECE Season 2 started on 10 March 2026, and Season 3 has no date yet. THE ONE PIECE is animation, and it starts again from the beginning.

Voice cast. Mayumi Tanaka returns as Luffy in Japanese. Several outlets reported it in June 2026, alongside the teaser.

What Season 1 covers

Per Netflix's announcement:

  • Episodes. 7 episodes, about 300 minutes in total, all released at once.
  • Story. About 50 chapters of the manga, up to Luffy meeting Sanji at the Baratie.

That makes Season 1 the opening of the East Blue saga. Whether later seasons finish East Blue hasn't been announced. Fan outlets saying so are guessing.

Where it streams

  • Netflix's wording. Netflix calls it a worldwide exclusive (世界独占配信), and its anime account says it premieres "exclusively on Netflix".
  • The official site's wording. It says "Netflixほか" — Netflix and others.
  • What that means. The two don't match exactly, so we'd treat "Netflix only" as Netflix's claim for its launch, not a promise about every country forever.
