RESOLVED — 7 September 2026. Chapter 420 confirms it. Tserriednich walks the casino floor and finds a man sitting alone at a machine, and every marker printed around him — the card suits in his speech, the assumption that a stranger in Zetsu might be the Phantom Troupe — is Hisoka's. He was still there. The full chapter is in HUNTER×HUNTER 420: Tserriednich appears to meet Hisoka; what follows below is the call as we made it on 31 August, left standing as the record.

The thing worth keeping from it is the caution rather than the conclusion. We scored the evidence 4/10 because Hisoka's position had not been re-established in fourteen chapters, and that reasoning was correct even though the outcome went the other way — the placement was deliberate, and we could not have known that from 419. The Japanese-language read that there was no reason for these two to fight yet held up better than the score did: they meet, and there is no fight.

THEORY WATCH — as published 31 August 2026. A theory moving fast in Japanese-language spaces that the published evidence did not yet carry. Heat and evidence are scored separately, and one does not imply the other.

Heat — how much this moved in Japan

MEDIUM–HIGH

  • Multiple independent Japanese blogs reached it the same day
  • One leads with it in the headline
  • Animate Times covered reader anticipation for the meeting

Evidence — as we scored it on 31 August

4/10

  • The casino placement looks deliberate
  • But Hisoka's position was last shown 14 chapters ago
  • Nothing states he is still there under the lockdown

Chapter 419 spends most of its length on Tserriednich testing his newly named ability on a corridor of King's Army soldiers. Then it ends. The last panel is the fourth prince, still hooded, walking onto a floor of slot machines under a chandelier, with three words down the side of the frame: カジノエリア 突入…!! — entering the casino area.

That is where the chapter stops. And within hours, Japanese readers had all arrived at the same next thought.

Why the casino

Because the manga has already put someone there.

In No.405「芝居」, Hisoka is in the Tier 1 VIP casino, playing SQ-X. In the same chapter, Bonolenov — who had been going around wearing Hisoka's face — finds the real one. Shueisha's own listing for Volume 39 describes it in exactly those terms: Bonolenov tracks down Hisoka, who is absorbed in a game.

So the arithmetic that Japanese readers did this morning is simple. Tserriednich has just walked into the casino. The last time the manga showed us where Hisoka was, he was in the casino.

  1. Chapter 405Hisoka — Tier 1 VIP casinoHe plays SQ-X; Bonolenov finds the real Hisoka there.
  2. Chapters 406–418Position unknownThe manga does not show Hisoka staying or leaving; martial law changes movement aboard the ship.
  3. Chapter 419Tserriednich — casino areaThe chapter ends as the fourth prince enters. No meeting is shown.
  4. Chapter 420Both — casino floorHe was still there. Tserriednich finds him at a machine, activates his ability on him, and leaves without a fight.

On the page

  • Ch. 405: Hisoka in the Tier 1 VIP casino, playing SQ-X
  • Ch. 405: Bonolenov finds the real Hisoka there
  • Ch. 419: Tserriednich enters the casino area; the chapter ends
  • A special martial law order has the ship locked down

Not on the page

  • That Hisoka is still in the casino as of ch. 419
  • That the two meet
  • That they fight if they do
  • That Bonolenov is involved in whatever happens

The gap in the middle

Here is the part worth being careful about, and it is the reason we are not scoring this higher.

Chapter 405 was fourteen chapters ago. Between then and now, the manga has not re-established where Hisoka is. He has not been shown leaving the casino, and he has not been shown staying. The succession war has spent those chapters elsewhere.

And something has changed in the meantime: the First Prince has declared a special martial law, and the ship is locked down. Passenger movement is restricted, doors are being controlled, floors are being sealed. Chapter 419 shows Tserriednich navigating exactly that. Whether the casino is still populated under those conditions is not something the chapter tells us.

So the honest form of the claim is not Hisoka is in the casino. It is Hisoka was last seen in the Tier 1 VIP casino in Chapter 405, and Tserriednich has now walked into that space. Those are different sentences, and the difference is fourteen chapters of unaccounted-for movement.

What Japanese readers are actually saying

This is not one channel talking to itself. Several Japanese blogs published 419 write-ups the same day and reached the encounter independently — skypenguin leads with it in the headline, asking directly whether the two will meet in the casino area; 最強ジャンプ放送局 frames it as running into the murderous clown already. Animate Times covered reader anticipation for the meeting as its own story.

That convergence is why this clears our bar for a Theory Watch. When four or five people who are not talking to each other look at the same final panel and think the same thing, the thought is worth reporting — even when the evidence behind it is thin.

What is notable is that the Japanese discussion is more restrained than you might expect. The recurring note is that there is no reason for these two to fight yet. Tserriednich is testing an ability and trying to move through a locked ship without being identified. Hisoka wants opponents worth having. Neither of those goals requires a confrontation on sight, and several of the write-ups say so rather than promising a battle.

What would move this score

It did. Chapter 420 supplied exactly the single panel described below, and the answer was yes. This section is left as written.

A single panel. If chapter 420 shows Hisoka anywhere — in the casino, out of it, anywhere on the ship — the evidence question resolves in one direction or the other immediately. Until then this sits on a placement that looks deliberate and a location that has not been confirmed in fourteen chapters.

We would also revise upward if the manga establishes that the martial law order has emptied the casino, or that it has not. Right now that detail is doing a lot of quiet work in both directions and the chapter leaves it open.

Our position

The setup reads as intentional. Togashi ended a chapter on a location, and that location has a major character's last known position attached to it. That is not nothing.

Whether the encounter would even become a fight is a separate question with its own answer, and we have weighed it against the ability's stated rules in Can Tserriednich beat Hisoka?

But looks intentional is not evidence, and the thing this theory needs — Hisoka being there now — is precisely the thing no chapter has shown since 405. We are watching it, not calling it.

For the wider board Tserriednich is standing on, our ranking of the strongest Kakin princes places all fourteen on their own Nen and Guardian Spirit Beast, with a separate table for faction strength.
