Quick answer
As of chapter 420, three Kakin princes are confirmed dead, ten are physically alive, and Halkenburg is a special case: his body is dead, but his consciousness survives.
The three dead are Momoze (12th), Salé-salé (8th) and Kacho (10th). Chapter 413 itself groups those three as the dead princes, and sets the ninth prince apart as still alive and still eligible despite losing his original body.
Everyone else is alive at the point we can last confirm them — including several characters the story has made look dead. Camilla died and came back. Tserriednich was publicly "executed" and walked into a casino two chapters later. Benjamin, Camilla, Tubeppa and Tyson are infected with TSK-17, and that makes them in danger — not dead.

"Latest confirmation" is the latest chapter where we have checked their status, not their last appearance. "Reported" means a character in the story states it rather than the prince being shown. Not every prince appears in chapter 420. "Alive" means there is no confirmed death after the last time they were shown or reported alive.
The three confirmed deaths
Momoze (12th) — suffocated, chapter 368
Momoze is killed in her sleep: an intruder presses a pillow over her face, and the cause reported afterwards is suffocation.
The killer is unnamed at first. In 372 Hanzo tricks a suspect into explaining his own ability and then kills him. In 374 Kurapika names him outright: Tuffdy, a soldier of the Fifth Queen.
Salé-salé (8th) — assassinated, chapter 382
His death takes two moves. In 381, Rihan's beast eats Salé-salé's Guardian Spirit Beast, leaving the prince unprotected. Rihan then gets Yushohi swapped into his place. In 382 Salé-salé lies unresponsive while resuscitation is attempted, and Yushohi reports in by phone. Chapter 413 confirms the eighth prince among the dead.
Rihan did not kill the prince; he removed the protection. Losing a Guardian Spirit Beast is not the same as dying.
Kacho (10th) — died escaping, chapter 383
Kacho and Fugetsu attempt to escape. Ghostly hands surround the escape capsule, and Kacho pushes her twin back through the return door. Kacho dies in the capsule; the chapter shows her body there.
This is where most confusion starts. After the escape, Fugetsu is seen with a Kacho-shaped figure. That is not Kacho. It is her Guardian Spirit Beast, Without You (「2人セゾン」). The chapter explains that it takes the appearance of the twin who dies first and protects the one who survives. The companion who appears in later chapters is the beast doing its job. Kacho has not been resurrected.
We have not given a cause of death beyond the escape attempt. The hands and the body are on the page; a medical mechanism and a named killer are not.
The special case: Halkenburg
Halkenburg (9th) belongs in neither column.
His ability swaps personalities, and it sent his consciousness into Balsamilco's body — Benjamin's right-hand man. In chapter 404 his original body dies: the monitor falls to zero, the medical team stops, and his death is announced before dawn with a funeral procession set for noon. In the same chapter, the person in Balsamilco's body discusses moving the ninth prince's corpse, then privately addresses Benjamin as his older brother.
Chapter 413 makes the distinction explicitly. It sets Halkenburg apart from the three dead princes as still alive and still eligible for the succession despite losing his body. It also shows his consciousness inside Balsamilco's.
So the accurate entry is: body dead, consciousness alive, still in the contest. Counting him as a fourth death overstates the case, and counting him as simply alive hides that his own body is gone.
What we have not established is who controls Balsamilco's body now. In 417, a soldier reports that the captain was found seated in room 1009 and answered questions as himself. That report does not prove Halkenburg's consciousness is gone, and it does not prove it is in charge. This row is the first one we will revisit after 421.
Deaths that aren't
What looks like a death
- Kacho is seen beside Fugetsu after the escape
- Camilla is shot dead in 373
- Benjamin declares the fourth prince executed in 417
- A sleeping Luzurus-shaped figure is stabbed in 414
- Benjamin says he has half a day left
What the chapters actually establish
- Kacho's corpse is in the capsule; the companion is her Guardian Spirit Beast
- She revives in the same chapter and is alive in 416
- 418 shows it was staged; Tserriednich is alive in 420
- The real Luzurus is awake and giving orders pages later
- He is still acting in person in 418
Camilla — dead once, alive now
In chapter 373 a soldier of Benjamin's shoots Camilla in the chest and she lies lifeless. Then her own Nen ability, 百万回生きた猫 (usually given in English as "Cat's Name"), activates after her death. A cat-shaped entity kills the shooter and pours his life into her, and she gets back up. It is her own ability, not her Guardian Spirit Beast.
That death happened, and it was reversed in the same chapter. In 416 she is alive, arguing and acting during Benjamin's visit. She was dead for a few pages, and she is alive now.
Tserriednich — the staged execution
In 417 Benjamin attacks what appears to be the fourth prince and declares him executed. Chapter 418 shows the whole sequence was a deception: Tserriednich and his guards set it up, and while Benjamin attacks the image everyone else is seeing, the real prince is in Zetsu and moving separately. Guards put the apparent corpse in a coffin.
In 419 he keeps moving toward the casino. On the final page of 420 he is still thinking and planning after his encounter with Hisoka. Benjamin's declaration does not outweigh two chapters of the prince alive on the page. We covered the encounter in Tserriednich appears to meet Hisoka, and his ability in HUNTER×HUNTER finally names Tserriednich's ability.
Luzurus — the stabbed figure
At the start of 414, a sleeping figure that looks like Luzurus is stabbed. A few pages later the real Luzurus is awake, speaking and giving orders. The chapters we checked do not explain who or what was stabbed, and we are not going to guess — but it was not the prince's death.
