Quick answer
No — the One Piece anime is not ending. No end of the series has been announced.
Something real did change, though, and it is where the rumor comes from:
- The 2026 run is over. Episode 1180 aired on 27 September 2026 as the last episode of the year.
- The time slot changes hands. From 11 October, the Sunday 23:15 slot on Fuji TV goes to Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
- More is announced. The official account's message after episode 1180 was that the next episode airs in 2027.
Verdict: MISLEADING. "The anime's 2026 broadcast block ended and its slot was handed over" is true. "The One Piece anime is ending" is not — nothing official says so, and the official line is that it returns in 2027.
Where the rumor comes from
The question is circulating in Japanese-language spaces in plain words. On Yahoo! Chiebukuro, the Japanese Q&A site, someone asks outright: is the One Piece anime ending from October?
Blogs repeated the confusion once the slot announcement landed. The facts underneath it are real; the conclusion drawn from them is not:
- a long-running anime's final episode of the year;
- another franchise announced in the same slot;
- no fixed return date.

|---|---|---|
| Oct 2025 | Toei: from 2026, up to 26 episodes a year, no recaps | ORICON / Anime Hack |
| Jan–Mar 2026 | No new episodes (announced break) | ORICON |
| 5 Apr 2026 | Elbaf arc starts airing | ORICON |
| 27 Sep 2026 | Ep. 1180, last episode of 2026; "next airs in 2027" | ORICON |
| 11 Oct 2026 | Dragon Ball Super: Beerus in the Sunday 23:15 slot | Dragon Ball official |
Toei's new schedule explains most of it. In October 2025 Toei Animation announced a new production policy:
- adapt roughly one manga chapter per episode;
- air up to 26 episodes a year;
- drop recap episodes.
A year of TV One Piece is now a block with breaks around it, not a weekly run that never stops. The 2026 block ran from April to the end of September.
In practice, that is a seasonal format. Toei has not used the word "season" itself. Its official terms are "up to 26 episodes a year" and a "recharge period" (充電期間) between blocks. But that is how the schedule now works: one block a year, a break, then the next.
The end of the block was announced as a pause. ORICON's report of episode 1180 says it was the last broadcast of the year. It quotes the official account thanking viewers and saying the next episode airs in 2027, and notes that the detailed timing is still to be announced.
The slot handover is confirmed by the other side. The Dragon Ball official site announces Dragon Ball Super: Beerus from Sunday 11 October at 23:15 on Fuji TV's national network. That is the slot One Piece aired in.
The official One Piece anime page has no end notice. At the time of writing it still lists episode 1180 (27 September) as the latest, with no series-ending announcement.
What is not known yet
- The 2027 start date. The official word is "2027", with details to follow.
- Which slot One Piece returns to. Nothing official says whether it comes back to Sunday 23:15 or somewhere else.
- How many episodes 2027 gets. The 26-a-year figure was announced for 2026. Whether it carries over has not been stated.
Is the manga ending too?
No. The manga is a separate schedule.
- Why there's no chapter right now: ONE PIECE is on a one-week break.
- When it's back: the break notice on chapter 1194's final page says the next chapter, 1195, is in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 46, on sale 13 October 2026 in Japan.
The anime's yearly pause and the manga's break happening in the same fortnight is a coincidence of timing, not a sign of anything ending. Where chapter 1194 left things is in our chapter 1194 report.
What would change this verdict
- To CONFIRMED (ending): an official announcement from Toei Animation, Fuji TV or the One Piece official site that the TV series is ending. Nothing like that exists as of 5 October 2026.
- Fully settled the other way: an announced 2027 start date and slot. We will update this page when it comes.
